My Dogs are Complaining about my Mylot Addiction

"Properly trained, a man can be a dog's best friend." Lately I have been spending too much time in Mylot and wasn't aware that it has began affecting others. For several days my dogs have been very patient with me despite their irregular feeding time. I blame mylot for being so addictive I lost track of time. Finally my dogs got together and decided enough was enough. This morning as the seconds tick into minutes, the minutes became hours and I was still surfing mylot, they mounted a concerted noise barrage to call my attention. They were whining. They were scratching the door. One even had the audacity to knock her food dish clanking down the doorsteps When a popular revolt like this happens, it is better to concede. So I hurriedly went to the kitchen to prepare their meals and later apologise to my pets for my inconsideration, promising this won't ever happen again. I wonder if cats also make a fuss about their feeding time? I'm thinking of becoming a cat-person. Photo image: Wikipedia Commons

YES! Cats also make a fuss, I have no cats, but the cat of my neighbor visits every day, I give him treats twice a day, usually around 11 am and 4 pm. He meows like a crazy when I am late feeding him. He jumps on the kitchen window to be sure I hear his voice.

@josie_ Poor cat, may be she was an old cat, or she ate something wrong.

@josie_ Cats cannot resist to eat things they find around.

I think most domesticated animals act like such behavior. My cat and kittens have the same way of asking for food.

@josie_ When I was in Kalinga, wild pigs are like dogs, too. They know what time to eat.

Oh cats are gentler than dogs. But none of my dogs back then ever complained when I mylot. Why is that? It's because they were all free fed. A famous breeder where I got my dog taught me that it's best to free feed them. It won't make them overweight. They were trained since they were puppies so I had no problem with their weight at all.

@hereandthere Just leave a dry food and make sure it's available 24 hours daily. Don't forget the water of course.

@toniganzon oh, i knew someone who did that, too, years ago. the food is in a big container and the dog (i think it was a shih tzu) would tap something to make it drop some to the bowl for her to eat, and the dog only eats when it's hungry and stops when its full.

I think cats do the same, the cats at my parents' house can be quite noisy when it's time to feed them.

@josie_ Sometimes cats yell at you and smack you around, though! My cat yells at me whenever he wants something, and he has slapped me on more than one occasion.

Cats tend to rub against your legs when they want something. They are more subtle.

When my cat Sid wants food he meows at the top of his lungs and when he wants to get out of the bedroom where I work he scratches hard on the door. so I make sure I stop what I am doing and take care of him.

@josie_ Thank you. He is really our son's cat, but we keep him for 8 months of the year. He doesn't get along with his Mommy's male cat. We grandparents play musical cats. He is a very good boy on my carpets.

"Doodles", that's a lovely name for a cat. I hope it's not because he is creative with his paw's print on the carpet.

I think dogs have a sense of time. Time for feeding and time when you come home. I have noticed that with my dog.

Dogs are easier to appease, cats start hollering 30 minutes before feeding time and what's worse is if I happen to spend too much time keypunching they start running around making all kinds of noise ..... it's very distracting but at least I get plenty of laughs.

Although so many comments indicate that pet cats are just as much complainers as dogs, I find from my experience with stray cats that they have a certain amount of aloofness. If I forget to feed them, they just shrug their shoulders and go look for food somewhere else.
