Favorite "Highway" Songs #7 - "Highway Song"

Purchase van? Check. Insurance? Check. Plates? Check. Moved belongings into storage? Check. #7 in my @JohnRoberts - suggested countdown of my favorite songs with "highway" in the title? Check: "Highway Song" by Blackfoot. There have been, count them, 44 musicians that have called Blackfoot home since the band formed in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1970. Although there are no original members, (including longtime leader/vocalist/guitarist Rickey Medlocke, who is currently in Lynyrd Skynrd) left, Blackfoot is still bringing their southern style hard rock to the masses. (Fun Fact: Rickey Medlocke hails from both Lakota Sioux and Cherokee ancestry and is in the Native American Music Hall of Fame.) "Highway Song" is the final track on Blackfoot's 1979 album, Strikes. Southern rock at it's finest, the single did well enough for a Jacksonville band not named Lynyrd Skynrd: it peaked at #26 on the Billboard Hot 100. I've seen Blackfoot, in the 1980's, and I would vouch for their greatness as a live band, but I've found something better: a boffo live performance in Zürich in 1992.
