Did anyone guess that I'm talking about that fantastic old TV series - "The Twilight Zone"? I love this show. The Sci-Fi channel usually does a 24 (or more) hour marathon on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, but seeing as I don't have cable I bought the whole boxed set. For those not familiar with it - "The Twilight Zone" was an American TV show that was mystery meets sci-fi. It was created by Rod Serling who would come on at the start and end of each episode. It aired from 1959-`1964 It is amazing at how much more politely and intelligently people spoke then! My favorite episodes include "The Howling Man" (The Devil is trapped) "Will The Real Martian Please Stand Up", "Five Characters in Search of an Exit" (a soldier, ballerina, bagpiper, hobo and a clown are trapped together), and the following episode whose title I can't recall - The episode where the a lady wanders in confusion into a department store only to discover she is a mannequin Anyway, great show and now as I have the dvds I can host my own marathon. lol Information verified at :

The Twilight Zone was shown in Britain, although at a later date. It was ahead of most science fiction series at the time, which no doubt accounts for its popularity.

Here I am thinking you’re singing “Up, Up and Away” all day long! I haven’t seen them all, but I love “Time Enough At Last” with Burgess Meredith.

That's a great song, and band, too. Aquarious/Sunshine is one of my favorites

That's the one! He is a bookworm with all the time he needs to read his books but when he breaks his glasses ironically fate deals him a cruel blow. Oh the irony! That is a great pick.

I just could not get enough of that show when I was younger. My favorite episode that stands out most clearly for me is the one where the guy with really thick glasses who loves to read finds out he is the only person left on earth. At first, he is freaking out, but then realizes he now has all the time in the world to read every book ever written...that is until he drops his glasses and they get broken, and he is so blind that he cannot find them! That episode always resonated with me because I am such a avid reader!

@FayeHazel My favorite author is Stephen King, and I enjoy Dean Koontz as well, so I would say the horror genre is my favorite, but I will literally read anything! I also read a lot of trade journals from work; finance books; motivational books; and whatever else I can get my hands on. I'm currently reading a manual for building contractors, one that they use to study for their general contractors license. I'm not trying to get my GC license, but I find the information fascinating. I think when I'm done I could go out and build a house! lol

Oh that is such a classic -- the poor guy and those thick glasses. What are your favorite things to read?

I have always LOVED this show. I am a HUGE fan. I even liked the movies they did after Serling. Great stuff. I'd like to see a new show come out, but man...just don't wreck it. If they can come out with a new Knight Rider, Magnum P.I., and Hawaii Five-O, there is room for a remake of Twilight Zone surely.

Oh I agree. What a great idea - a Twilight Zone" re-boot would be awesome but, extra care must be taken to not spoil it

@porwest Oh good point, one would need to be very careful in who would be chosen for the task. King could actually be quite a fine choice. Hey! There's a new paranormal types series on Prime, called "Electric Dreams" you might like it, too. It's similar to TZ

@FayeHazel With the quality of shows lately I think they would probably spoil it. I think we'd have to employ the services of some great people like Steven Spielberg, Stephen King and others who would probably do a good job of preserving Rod Sterling's legacy, and the legacy of the great show he left for us all to enjoy.

I remember "The Twilight Zone" it was broadcast here in the 80's, we always got series quite late from the US. Enjoy your own marathon of it, Faye. :-)

@FayeHazel Twilight Zone lost me with the wax figures in the basement episode. I was awake all night starring at the tree in the back yard. Every time I closed my eyes I saw the rope between two hands above my head. I haven't watched another horror show since.

I still love this show, and I like many episodes from the 80's and the ones that started in 2002. My favorite are the couple in the town alone, and the only man left in the world who finds the library, but sadly his glasses break.
