Hospital drama and heart problems.

Happy sunday all. My night soo did not go as expected last night. It was my last night shift and expected a smooth evening and few hours of sleep due to switching over to middle shift starting today. I got a call from my older sister that my mom had been having chest pain earlier in the day. She didnt notify us until 1230amish even though the pain had subsided. So....naturally. I spoke to my supervisor, hauled butt out of there to run my mom up to the ER to get checked out. We found out later she has been having chest pains and left arm numbness a few times a week for the past month but failed to tell us. Sigh! My mom was super against getting checked out but me and my sister managed to convince her. After 4 hours of us being in the hospital... all blood tests came back normal (despite the nurse not being able to find a vein. Of course), EKG came back normal, nothing on chest xrays, nothing abnormal in the ultrasound. The next step is for her to get a stress test this week. Since she wasnt experiencing the symptoms at the time - the EKG wasnt really useful. Me and my sister got home around 0500am and slept until 930. Now off to work in a minute here. Gah. Thanks for listening. I am praying my mom follows up and schedules the stress test instead of putting it off like she has been. How is everyone elses sunday going? Hope all is well.

She may need a stent, Tony often felt this was when he got his. Have a good day regardless.

Thanks. Can you advise...how did they determine he needed a stint? Was it the stress test or somehing else?

My prayer that your mom's stress test will have a good result. Sometime, our parents doesn't want to stress and bother us so they keep the pain to themselves which should not be the case.

@maezee They want us to just let them do what they seem to perceive as good for them.

That sounds really scary. I always thought her symptoms were the sign of a heart attack. I am glad you took her to get checked out.

I hope that your mom is ok, but I sympathise with her being against getting checked out. I never go to the doctor unless it's absolutely necessary.
