Anybody else into swag lamps?

Years ago I had a standing lamp. It was a pretty lamp. The dog that we had then suddenly heard something at the front window and bang! Destroyed lamp. It is hard in my house to know where an animal's path will be. I found this hanging or swag lamp on good old e bay. It used to live in Canada. Somehow or other the lady seller managed to pack it super well so that it arrived at my house in one piece. Go lady! The lamp has a long cord and toward the bottom of the cord a little switch so that I can turn it on or off easily. This light reminds me of a tea cup. For me that is perfect and as gloomy January days march on, the lamp's whimsy cheers.

We do have some of these. They are almost as old as we are and really fit the space where they hang now.

We had one here in Florida, but gutted the place and replaced the swag lamp with a chandelier.

@DianneN I love that hubby didn't have to mess with house wires when we hung this lamp up.

@DianneN True. I just like that we don't have to have wiring. Plug in lamps are pretty cool plus they are portable. We put in a very nice faux Tiffany light in our old house and supposedly we were going to get it back but have not gotten it yet.

@sallypup It shouldn't be a problem if the wiring is there. I helped my husband hang the chandelier. Never again!!! lol

@shaggin The lady who sold the lamp to me really knew how to wrap a fragile object.

Oh, Is that what they're called? I love swag lamps. I used to have a friend who worked at a thrift store. He said those lamps were destroyed usually because of lack of interest. Say what?

I remember swag lamps, it seems like everyone mom knew had one back in the early 1960s. The one in this picture reminds me of a vase mom once had.
