My Mom Loved To Read

The antique lady sure gave me a funny look. I had handed her a stack of Zane Grey books of my mothers. I was telling her about going through my mom's stuff after she passed and the things I had found. Like for instance the five Zane Grey books I found in the freezer. (She didn't know this particular freezer wasn't in working order.)

sounds like your mom was making room and using anything around to recycle in to useful stuff. i have old trunks and even walmart boxes i have saved for stacking things and storage. what a smart lady your mom was. i once took an old night stand outside and threw an old shower curtain over the front so the feral kittens could stay out of the rain. don't know if you remember that post from 4 years ago or so.

Mom grew up during the depression so she saved, recycled and such as much as she could. The more we can recycle and reuse things the better off the earth is.

@celticeagle all of the older people seem to know the value of saving better then the ones of today. i know even when i had money, i saved things and bought second hand and at yard sales, cheaper stores etc. only things i got new and expensive was gifts from others. lol

My mom loves a good book. I remember she read a very thick one this one time she stayed up all night to do it. A book on the history of Katherine, the great. I think she was the queen of Russia or something.

Your Mom and storing things in the freezer- reminds me of me who uses our dishwasher for a bowl rack/cupboard. The dishwasher works fine but I prefer to wash things by hand. I love being able to easily pull out my mixing bowls.

I can understand that. I rarely used the dishwasher unless there was sickness and reason for sanitation. My daughter won't wash anything by hand.
