Anyone for tea?

We’ve been away for six days. When we first married we spent 18 months in Ravensthorpe, an isolated small town in south-east Western Australia. We then spent seven years in Esperance and returned to Ravy as we called it from 1980 – 1984. I think we’ve only been back once since as it is a long way from virtually anywhere. We attended a funeral there which was a bit sad but the wake gave us a marvellous opportunity to catch up with some very old and dear friends so it that respect it was a very enjoyable time. We were able to do so much reminiscing and catching up with who married who and who lived where We also took the opportunity to go to the coast and into one of the National Parks so I’ll have a lot to tell you over the next few weeks. Pictured is an intriguing advertisement for farm signage on the way to Hopetoun which is on the south coast.

@JudyEv are they solid or hollow and fills up when it rains? Somebody makes campfire near that and you would have nice boiling water

@louievill I should think they would fill up when it rains but perhaps they have drainage holes in them.

i did notice you were missing. i love the colors of that tea set contrasting against the soil and greenery. wakes are that way here, too - like a reunion because you get to see friends, neighbors, relatives, etc. catch up on news and relive funny incidents.

@judyev That picture would be one disturbing tea party to attend in the middle of nowhere, very Alice in Wonderland.

I think they were made of corrugated iron. It wasn't a good spot to stop the car and caravan so we didn't hang around too long.

@Shiva49 Sometimes they manage to find underground water. Otherwise they catch rainwater off the buildings and run it into tanks. And always they are very careful with their use of water.

@JudyEv I understand shortage of water inland is the main issue. How do you manage your water needs when you live in remote places?
