Earning Over $4500 A Month and Still Getting Free Medical?

Someone I know who sells on Amazon and eBay earns this much $$ a month, and got caught and they were going to take her off MediCal to where she would have had to pay for her Caregivers out of her own pocket. She was going to appeal it to where then SS decided it was their error and so she will continue to get the benefits. Shoot... Maybe I am living in the wrong state, or am Married so my situation does not count? She's show on Facebook her really nice home, etc that makes mine look tiny. I guess if you are Tithe paying Christian and have many Health issues like Diabetes, Fibromyalga, etc I guess we have to struggle. Praise God as our situation could be worse, and by the Grace of god is not, I still wonder sometimes why some people can do anything almost and still get help. Guess I need to call Social Security and find out if it is truly because I am Married that I am held to stricter values even though I cannot work outside the home anymore? Or is it because I'm a Legal business and not afraid to admit it? ~~TINA~~

For whatever reason it just seems some can get away with doing things like this, or they cheat the system and just do better then the ones that at least try their best without cheating the system. I really do not think something is right there. I know ones that make 2000.00 and can get no extra or they lose benefits that they get.

Yes, the system is not Fair for many people. The ones who really need the help cannot get any, or just barely any while the ones who openly make too much $$ are allowed to continue to make as much as they want and no one seems to notice or care. SAD!!

I agree! I'm betting she isn't paying taxes on the income or its not reported right. I just think somewhere information isn't correct!

I have heard of similar cases, families where several members work, but they can obtain benefits while others get nothing.

It is so Sad. Personally I always wonder how these people can live with themselves, and somehow continue to not get caught. I would have a hard time sleeping if it was me. So she's in a Wheel Chair, but that does not mean she should be able to make unlimited income and everyone feel Sorry for her.

@LadyDuck Many times I wonder if these people even have a Conscience? How can they sleep at night knowing their are others out there with less than they have and that they could make it without the Free help.

@KrauseHome They should be ashamed, because they profit of money that could be useful to those people who are really in need.

Does she sell for profit or stuff around the house that she has owned but wants to get rid of?

She is dropshipping, so she has no fees except for the Fees that eBay and paypal gives you for selling on there. These are all New products, and even if you sell $65,000 like I seen proof of her selling in a month at only 10% profit, that is $6,500 a month. Wish I made that type of money. We would not be hurting like we are.

@KrauseHome Oh. I am surprised they didn't send her a tax form then. She can't cheat for long, eventually will get caught if not now, later.

@infatuatedbby You would think unless in the state of CA because she is permanently in a wheelchair, that they think their is no way someone would know how to make that type of money anywhere. Maybe they've never heard of selling online and drop shipping then?

I suspect there is more to it than she is telling. But in California, the price for housing is very much higher and so are taxes etc and insurance. So check about your eligibility but don't worry about her. If she is cheating she won't win in the end, God knows who is honest and who isn't.

I guess maybe there is, but come on ... My husband makes under $25,000 a yr usually and this is $40,000 a month. I guess in some states a wheelchair means you are allowed to make as much as you want and no one cares. So if I could afford it, I would have a Care giver, but they make you pay unless it is from Medical recovery like I had with Home Health. Maybe it is a good thing I am married, so at least I have an awesome husband to help me.

My son broke his tibia and fibula at futsal (indoor socker) last month. Medicare paid for his surgery, hospital stay and further checkups. All my 8 ceasarian operations are Medicare-paid for. Medicare would have paid hubby's cataract surgeries 3 months ago. but we opted to save and pay for the bills to speed up the booking. Friends from our Bible Study group and our children gave us money-- almost covered the amount needed. My husband is consistent taxpayer as the single sole income earner in our household. So, our tax money is just coming back to us incrementally. My husband says that if I seek employment, our fortnightly SS family payments will be reduced. I hope things will get settled between you and your government as you talk it over with them.

Yes, it is a shame that since I am married I am judged more harsh than someone who is not. No, I am not in a Wheelchair Thank goodness, but have Fibromyalga and other Health issues. I wish I could still work so then even if we struggle and they told us we made too much it would make more sense.

@KrauseHome I've read that if you want to know what God thinks about money, then look who He gives it (or lets have it). I'm not sure of the actual quote, but I think it works for this situation.

Yes, that is a lot of the reason we still have a home to live in, and food to eat. Many times it is a struggle, but I know overall it will be worth it in the end.

Well, I guess if that is the Case then many people would be able to get Disability, FS, Free medical and make over $50,000 a yr. Because in WA state or anywhere I know about, including CA where she lives SSI has their own set of rules for income in order to be considered Disabled, etc so in the real sense of things this is way over what poverty level is.

We have similar cases. Some people get things for free while they have the capability to pay for it. On the other hands, most poor people have to struggle hard to get the benefit.

Makes no sense that many times those that are getting things that the less fortunate really could use worse than them never take time to think about them. They are usually too busy focusing on themselves to notice

Well, what she does is dropship on Amazon. So that means any items you see that does not have a Prime symbol next to it, could possibly be something she is selling. How she can acclimate that she is not making that much is you have to pay out of your own pocket for each sale until you prove the item has been shipped, and then they only pay you every 2 weeks. So that is probably how she has kept from getting caught is making sure she has a lot of the money going back out every 2 weeks.

The system is unfair, somehow those who are wealthier end up getting the best benefits.

That is so true, and is unfortunate. Wish there was more of a universal system that was tied into with people to where everything they made made a real difference on what type of Help they are really able to get. And judge it according to income and Health, and also be more help out there if you are truly hurting physically.

I wouldn't believe what she says. I find it hard to believe someone with an income that high is getting as. She's likely lying somewhere!

She posted this exact statement on Facebook, and I have seen her income a couple of yrs ago, when she had sold over $65,000 in a month on Amazon and was not worried about it. i am sure she is making at least 10% of that in profit since she dropships, but overall I guess I am glad it is not me who has to worry about being honest or not. Just no wonder California is Broke.
