10%

A new law is recently signed by the president of our country that employees who have an annual income of less than a hundred thousand pesos will be exempted from income taxation. My school- the school that I am connected to for 13 years now, has always been deducting 10% from our salary twice a month, whether we have duty for 2 days only, or 6 days; it does not matter how many days, but we are always deducted 10%. With the passing of the new law, we the part-timers, expect that we will receive our salary complete without the 10% deduction. This is a promise made by our dean, who recently graduated Bachelor of Laws and took the bar examination, and who might have thought about our dilemma as the dedicated CI’s of the school. We hope our dean’s word will come true. Let’s see if my salary will be complete on the 16th of this month. My other colleagues think about this so.

I suppose you will need to ask for it if it is a part-time job, as they are not supposed to know if you have another part-time job besides. Congratulations for the raise !

@ridingbet A full time job in my country is 35h/week. People working part-time have the same advantages than full time employees when it comes to 13th month, sick leave, vacations. If they work less than 110h/month they have a bonus wage and get more (in percentage of their previous wage) in case of unemployment than full time employees.

we sign a contract at the beginning of a school year as part-time clinical instructors. but we work 32 hours a week so that means we should be considered full-time employees. the problem though is, when we have no work, we do not have 32 hours job. for me as an employee since 2004, my brother said i should be considered a full-time employee already and should receive those privileges like 13th month pay, sick leave, vacation leave, and others.

@topffer either way, we still expect that the accounting office will heed to the law previously signed by our president of our country

@ridingbet If the 10% does not go to the government I think it's illegal to retain it.

actually, we should not be deducted 10% from our salary because our pay is not regular and steady. it is a no-work, no pay for us, so we think it is illegal to remove 10% of our pay; besides the 10% is not remitted to the government but it goes back to the accounting office- the school.

So that's equivalent to you getting a 10% raise - woohoo. Let's hope it comes true.

@ridingbet I know it's not an actual raise, but it's the equivalent of one if you will be 10% better off.

i hope so, but it is not a raise. we have been receiving the amount since 2006 and if it a raise, then it is long overdue.

we have long wished and wanted that the 10% be given back to us. it is not even considered a raise, but we must get our efforts' worth. i work with dedication and compassion, and i think it is but right that we receive what is due to us.-

@ridingbet Yes, I didn't hear my Mother's voice today. Maybe she went very early in the center for her session. Thank God.

I think it is less than 250K , ingrid, since I am also entitled to it as our HR staff has told all of us at the office. I am happy that our president is really making many improvements be it in infrastructure or the welfare of the people. He also directed for the teacher's increase in salaries.

100K is less than 250K. in any ways, i believe we are exempted because we get paid only when we have work.

I hope you get a recent salary increase, but it's not much isn't it. Judging by your story, they often deduct it ten percent.

yes, it is not much, and besides it is long overdue since 2006. good if the 10% is remitted to BIR but no! it goes back to the office of the school.

yes it is. just this morning, i read some news that the military personnel have increase in their salaries, i think a private first class soldier will receive less that P50k.
