“Wednesday Morning, 3 AM” was not a hit or even a single and was the title track of Simon & Garfunkel’s debut album. Despite the inclusion of “The Sound of Silence,” the album was a commercial failure sending the duo back to their day jobs. A combination of a hit remix of “The Sound of Silence” and better received second album prompted a reissue of “Wednesday Morning, 3 AM” which rose to Billboard #30.
“For I know with the first light of dawn
I’ll be leaving
and tonight will be
all I have to recall”
The Paul Simon composition is about a guy waking up early morning next to the woman he loves. He has to get out by dawn because he is on the run from holding up a liquor store for $25.
Written by Paul Simon And Recorded By Simon & Garfunkel On March 17th, 1964. It Features Paul Simon On Tenor And Guitar, And Art Garfunkel On Counter-Tenor.

One of their lesser- known works for sure. I never heard of it. I thought I knew most of their songs.

A great song - amazing that this album didn't catch on right from the start

Glad they remixed "Sound of Silence" which became a hit and brought back Simon from his solo career in England. Reuniting as Simon & Garfunkel they took advantage of that tune's radio success giving us a wealth of many good future songs/albums
