This is another song I didn't hear until years later, but I've always thought it was a quality song. The zombies originated in England in 1957(while young teens), and in 2017, four members who started the band, performed in an American tour. I've read many different opinions on the meaning of the song-- from a woman who changed into someone superficial, has mental illness or someone who was murdered, but I think it may be someone who has brain damage from drugs and though she still look beautiful she's dead in the eyes. Well let me tell you 'bout the way she looked The way she'd act and the color of her hair Her voice was soft and cool Her eyes were clear and bright But she's not there... But it's too late to say you're sorry How would I know, why should I care? Please don't bother trying to find her She's not there Wikipedia and the video state 1964, but Google states 1965, so I'm not sure. Do you like this song?
This great song by "The Zombies" was released in 1964 and was their debut single which reached number 12 in the UK charts.

I remember this song but I never bothered to try to work out what it was trying to say.

@misunderstood_zombie We have a folk musician who writes the most beautiful songs and mostly you pick up the story for the lyrics but when he gives a preamble it makes it so much more meaningful.

@JudyEv Sometimes, I try to understand the meaning of songs too much, I just want to know, but the artists hardly ever tell what the song is about.

@LadyDuck I don't think all their songs were popular in the US, but this is definitely one of them.

There were quite a number of rock bands in those days - like the Beatles and Rolling Stones.
