Does it ever end???

I am starting to think I only complain about things but after getting home and being sick, I started to get ready for bed and my husband was already asleep as he drove all the way for 2 days. He hates my driving. Anyway, I went into the bathroom to get ready for bed and I walked into a huge puddle of water. I was shocked and the more I looked around I found the puddle being more like a swimming pool than a puddle. I threw some towels on the floor and checked the toilet and that was fine and I looked in the shower and didn't see anything wrong. I dried up as much as I could and I wasn't going to wake my husband up as we just got in from a very long drive. I soaked up as much as I could and put a big fan toward the flood and waited for my husband to wake up. As it turned out the water heater was shot and broke loose. We have no idea how old it was as we only moved in here 15 months ago. Luckily, the man next door was a plumber and he came over and worked on it all day with my husbands help. I pulled everything out of the bathroom and have a big stand up fan in there trying to dry it out. Can't wait to see what tomorrow will bring.

Just relax, things like this happen all the time, I just finished dealing with a leaking faucet, dont let it stress you out especially after a long trip, it's good there was somebody who could help.

We are so greatful that he is next door and doesn't charge us full prices. We had to buy a new water heater.

When the water heater breaks it's a mess. I hope they can fix it.

@ramapo17 We replaced our heater and water heater five years ago, the previous ones lasted about 30 years. I am not sure the modern products last so much.

@LadyDuck we don't know how old it was as we only bought this house a year ago.

We had to replace it. We have no idea how old it was as someone owned this house for over 20 years before us. At least we have a new one now and that should last our lifetime.

Now that's a terrible surprise.

Well glad you didn't have a really huge flood. Sometimes it is better to purchase a new water heater because it saves on more repairs in the future and at times new is better.

We did have a big flood and I am still trying to dry out some of the carpets in the closets and the bedroom. At least it was clean water.

Oh dear, that would be just what you didn't want. And I can understand your reluctance to wake your husband. I hope you have no more trouble with it.

The new one we got should last us as long as we live here. My husband is really sick but to stubborn to go to the doctors. Luckily I got over it faster so I am doing everything here. I just did all the laundry from the trip so that is one thing out of the way. Luckily I didn't put up decorations as we decided to go north before I started doing that.

@JudyEv It is so nice to go away but all the laundry builds up. Luckily I did my laundry when we were away but my husband didn't want his done. Why, I don't know.

@ramapo17 I hope your husband starts feeling better soon. I've just finished catching up on laundry after being away for six days.

That's terrible. My smoke detector has been going off. It's old and I hope to get a new today.
