Mispelling Words on Purpose

United States
January 11, 2018 9:42am CST
There are many words that I sometimes misspell on purpose. I think the misspelling makes it cute. For example: food = fewd - "Gimme the fewd!!! " poop = pewp - "They scared the pewp out of me! " Of course, there is a time and a place for such misspellings. I generally try to use proper spelling. Do you ever misspell words on purpose?

@mohit459 Any misspelling of words could be considered awkward, I think.

Yess, zometimez lol. I sometimes write God as Gawd, or Gord. I think Text-speak which truncates words makes wilful mis-spelling more common. Arfur Kchappul.

No, I actually only, if ever, do it by mistake. I have always been a bit particular about spellings. But yeah, that sounds fun.

The situation is different for foreigners. People whose mother tongue is English wouldn't think that the foreigner is being funny. They'd only think that the foreigner doesn't know English well.

Well, I sometimes make up words like "yeppers," which is actually in common usage. There are some words I like to "mess with," but I can't think of them right now. Some sayings ask for misspellings, like "Dem's da breaks!"
