EYES EVERYWHERE!

Whenever I go online I get this feeling that my every movement is being watched. Recently I checked out a product on a site - and now the product I researched pops up at intervals when I am on mylot. Seems like google has eyes everywhere. At first I thought my friend was being a bit paranoid about her privacy online. She told me that she covers the camera which is on the top right hand corner of her laptop with a piece of tape every time she opens it up. I think I will do the same, even though I am not sure how the camera can affect me negatively. What are your online privacy concerns?

I think my biggest "fear" online is having passwords stolen. It's happened to me. Now I change my passwords monthly. Here's a song for you.
Music video by Rockwell performing Somebody's Watching Me. (C) 2004 Motown Records, a Division of UMG Recordings, Inc.

I love the song - and the video is kind of amusing. I think a lot of women were afraid to enter the shower after watching the movie "Psycho ". Good tip, I think I'll change a few passwords.

Covering the camera on laptops is a very good way to keep yourself safe, as it's very easy these days to hijack one's webcam. It is kind of scary, that's why I am a bit cautious and don't reveal much about myself online. Even photos you post on social media taken from your phone can pinpoint your exact location as it's saved in their metadata.

I wish I had thought of covering the camera before - but, better late than never. I didn't know that about the phone and photos - thanks for that info.

@thehousewife I didn't know about the photos we post on social media taken from our phone can pinpoint our exact location. Only thing I knew was that they can locate us only if we put our location while making posts. Anyways, thanks for the information. Will be more cautious next time.

I cover the camera with electrical tape on my laptop too. Being hacked worries me.

I have gone well past getting irritated with this. The moment I buy or even search for a product on Amazon pronto it features on FB and even here. Since I do not lose much I do not mind.

I know I'm being watched. But I got things to do, so I do them. But I pity the poor soul who has to watch me. What a boring job!

@Kandae11 - I didn't do it. My daughter did it. She's the paranoid one. I didn't even know it was a camera. My son gave me the laptop and he didn't tell me! Thank God for kids who are up on the technology.

I had also read that some websites can access the privacy of the user through the computer’s camera. I usually cover or close my camera to secure myself.

I know this phenomenon. Once I ordered a nightgown online and then was bombarded for months with offers of nightgowns. No idea why I should buy the same thing immediately after buying an item.
