A woman demands a refund for her Christmas tree and it's granted

I read online that a woman who bought her Christmas tree at Costco, before December 25th, went back to the wholesaler about ten days later to return it. She claimed that the Christmas tree was dead and demanded a refund. And it was granted. She got all her money back.
When I read, this my mouth was wide open in shock. I can't believe this lady had the nerve or the guts to request a refund for a (dead) Christmas tree. And I was even more shocked that she got her money back.
It's like buying a bouquet from a florist, and then after the bouquet withers away, going back to the florist and demanding a refund because the flowers are dead.
Should retailers allow people to return their Christmas trees for a refund? And should Costco change its return policy?

I love the way Costco will refund anything you buy anytime you want except electronics but you do have a valid point, some things should not be allowed a refund and that should include "live" christmas trees and flowers. The woman should be ashamed of herself, why doesn't she just get an artificial tree instead, she could get a refund on that as well but at least Costco can return it to the manufacturer for a refund.

I hear there is no time limit for refunds and you don't even need a receipt. They can look it up in the system by using your Costco card I think. And I believe the product can be in used condition and they will accept it.

Yes, it's one of the benefits of the paid membership @lovebuglena but in recent years they have limited refunds on electronics to 90 days. Only Costco members can make purchases at their clubs and because each member has a member number they use that to track purchases as well as determine if a member has a valid refund.

Usually stores give thirty days to return something for a refund. Some a bit longer. Seems costco allows you return things without that limitations. You can return something many months or even years after you bought it. I am assuming not food-related stuff.

@lovebuglena I've read about people returning 1 slice of cake to Costco for a refund.
