Fun Post: Today Is Kiss A Ginger Day!

The National Day Calendar has proclaimed January 12th kiss a ginger day. Find your favorite redhead and plant one on his or her cheek to celebrate.
This day brings some happiness to those gingers who might have been teased for the color of their hair.
Redhair is a recessive gene. It requires both mother and father to possess this gene in order to pass it down to their children. Even then, there is only a 1 in 4 chance they will have a redheaded child. Most redheads have brown eyes while the rarest have blue. Only 1% of the World's population will have a blue-eyed ginger.
How many of you out there are natural (no dying please) redheads? Have you kissed a redhead recently? I bet Meghan Markle kissed hers today!

An Irish thing! I know an Irish girl with red hair. You know the Vikings settled in Great Britain. Wonder if that plays a part in the red hair?

Nope, my hair is graying, with lots of dark brown throughout. My friend Denise was a flaming red-head, with crystal blue eyes, the most uncommon of all gingers. We were buddies while growing up, for about ten years as kids.

Here is an interesting fun fact I found online Hanni: Red hair is associated with the gene MC1R, a recessive and somewhat rare gene that occurs in only about 2 percent of the world's population, according to the National Institutes of Health. ...
Although if your parents are both redheads it is 50/50 you will also be a ginger.

My grandma had red hair and blue eyes.
My dad had red hair and blue eyes.
I'm a blue-eyed redhead.
I have five siblings with red hair. My sisters have blue eyes but my brothers have hazel-ish.
Out of my seven kids, five are redheads--all with blue eyes.
I've only ever met ONE redhead in my life with brown eyes. I always thought the brown eye/red hair combo was more rare than the blue eyed/red hair combo.
At any rate, I much prefer Kiss a Ginger Day to Kick a Ginger Day...

Wow! Your family has cornered the market on red hair blue eyes, lol. I never could understand why gingers were picked on. Some just don't like uniqueness
