Has nothing to do with Pres. Trump's tax cut!

I have heard that some supporters of Pres. Trump's tax cut praising it and using Wal-Mart as an example. Two days ago, I read that Wal-Mart was going to raise the minimum wage of the workers, give a one time bonus of 1000 dollars to employees who have worked there a long time and improve it's health insurance program. The article said this was due to the tax cut. At first, I thought how good that was and believed it was due to the tax cut, until yesterday afternoon when I read an article on Facebook. The article was from 11 Alive in Atlanta Georgia, my home State. It said that the "Sam's Club" (which is a part of the Wal-Mart umbrella), in Lithonia Georgia, closed without notice yesterday for good. There was no notice to the employees about this closure and the workers showed up to a closed store with security guards at the door saying it was closed. The workers were in tears and the mayor of Lithonia is angered that a store doing well was shut down without any notice. That store is one of 65 that are being closed around the country and other stores closed in other States like Texas yesterday without informing it's workers. Corporate said it was due to sales and how some of the closed ones would become distribution centers and how they would pay the employees who lost jobs for 60 days as they try to get jobs in other stores. Those who don't find a job in another store will receive a severance until they find another job in another field. I just want to say, this whole story making Wal-Mart look like they are giving their employees raises and perks due to Trumps tax cut is a big fat lie! All it is, is a Restructuring of their empire and a Socialistic redistribution of their wealth. Can you imagine, going to your job and the doors being closed and told the place where you worked was shut down? With no prior notice? There is something evil about it and I hope no other company will treat their employees so shabbily.
A message on their voicemail says "This Sam's club is closed effective January 11" and points callers to their website to find an open location.

Companies are NOT going to be helping workers or customers with that tax cut. It will be going in the executives’ pockets.

I totally agree. The companies/executives have always been greedy and it wont stop.

@LeaPea2417 the Trump fans are too blind to see reality though. They actually believe that legislation signed one day resulted in a benefit on that very same day or in the same week.

I've heard about that in the news yesterday. I've been to Sam's Club once with my cousin two years ago. That's insane.

@KristenH It is sad. I started thinking, what will be the next chain to close stores?

I've never shopped at Sam's Club, but quit going to Walmart years ago on general principles. Money hungry liars!

It's horrible that those people went to work for little pay, and now they are going through such sadness.

I agree. There is a problem with a company that would hurt people like that in such an uncaring manner.

@LeaPea2417 I agree and I wouldn't put it past any corporation to do this. It was done to me when I came back to my cubicle after a break, they escorted me to a room and then out the doors. They did this to almost everyone there and sent our work overseas.

What you didn't mention is the following "Hourly associates will continue receiving compensation for 60 days while they look for other opportunities in nearby clubs or Walmart stores," she said. If employees haven't transferred after the 60 days, they'll receive a severance, Wyatt-Moore said. When the business I worked for closed I came to work to a closed door and I did not get 60 days pay and the option to transfer to another store. I lost the two weeks pay they owed me!! 60 days is a very nice severance package. I wonder if K-Mart employees and Macy's employees are getting a better deal. Seems to me Walmart is treating their employees very well, they can't be expected to keep underperforming stores open.
