We just found out that my grandson was just made officially a United States Navy Sailor today. He made it out of boot camp and "Hell Week" which is known to be horrific. His graduation is next week and my daughter and younger grandson are flying from New Jersey to Chicago to be at it. He will be celebrating his 21st birthday then too. After spending time in Chicago he will be going out to San Diego to start Seal Training.

Congratulations for surviving boot camp. He was officially a sailor the moment he took the oath. I hope he does well in seal training in San Diego. What base will he be at, do you know? I was based in San Diego when I finished boot camp and know there are several bases there.

@1creekgirl Oh, so sorry to hear that. That must have been hard to have a little one all the time when you got older. I helped out a lot with my second grandson as he was born with 5 holes in his heart and had multiple surgeries to close some of them up but they didn't do it all at once. It was a long road but he is now in high school and 6 ft 3 inches. And the greatest thing, he looks just like me.

@ramapo17 I'm so glad your grandson is healthy now. Will he need any more surgery? Our grandson was a premie (2.8 pounds), but he's a strong, tall 14 year old now. He also had back surgery when he was 4 for a tethered cord, but you'd never know it now!
