Is red meat bad?

I recall working on a research assignment in my college biology class regarding red meat. Studies showed links from intestinal cancer and heavy red meat eating. Some red meats are really high in saturated fats causing high cholesterol and heart disease. From that day on I cut my red meat intake in half. I started eating lean red meats because in small amounts you do get a higher serving of protein compared to other protein sources. However in general I only eat meat for dinner and typically start my day with eggs, almonds, peanuts or other protein rich foods. What is your stand on red meat? Do you still eat it everyday? Or have you cut back on it as well?

I just think that too much of it is harmful. Its advisable that you have white meat instead of red when you can

Everyday a new thing is harmful. I don’t follow those news anymore. I know old and healthy people who have been eating red meat all the time. Or who have been heavy smokers.

This was actually something I learned a few years ago. I don't really follow any new trends either. And that is definitely a good point.

@Madshadi Very true. You have to take most health sites with a grain of salt.

Red meats is high in uric acid, that it is forbidden to people with gout arthritis. It also contains saturated fat that can clog your arteries and further cause cardiovascular problems.I'm only eating red meats once a week if I have a choice and fill my diet with fruits, vegetables and fish.

Yeah its crazy that it can cause those problems. That doesn't sound like a bad diet plan. I probably eat it about once a week at this point now that I think about it.

I may eat it once a week. I like chicken, fish, pork and turkey more.
