One of the most popular anime in Japan right now is My little witch Academia. This show is like Harry Potter but with girls as the center of the story. It is about a Japanese girl named Akko who got a scholarship to a witch school in England. It is a funny adventure and Magical girl Genre show in Japan. One of the main characters of this show is a Filipino girl named Sucy Manvabaran or Mambabarang. She is not the first Filipino anime character but she is a lead character. She is one of the 3 main characters. She is the first anime character from Cebu. The irony of this character is the political climate of the Philippines. She is a druggie. This character loves Psychedelic mushrooms. I have a feeling this anime might not air in the Philippines. I think I have a feeling why she is in England instead of the Philippines.... In one of the episodes Akko saved her from death because she got so high on drugs. I am not offended of a drug using Filipino character though. Hollywood also have it's own share of it! The american sitcom Crazy ex girlfriend have a Filipino Priest character who smokes Marijuana. Ever since the war on drugs controversy in the Philippines happens these drug using Filipino characters started existing.

Hi! I am a Filipina but I am not offended at all. It's fiction and even though I must admit that it is tainted by the political climate here in the Philippines, I still think the show is interesting. I hope I get to see it.

@Hanyouyomi What I mean is the hollywood portrayal of Asian nerds, ugly Asexual insecure academic guys with no girlfriends. The Jason Mendoza character is a Filipino bro from Florida who gets to sleep with beautiful women.

@CaptAlbertWhisker You make it sound like the idea of a Fillipino nerd in anime would be a bad idea. Plus what threw me off was that she's rather fair of skin for a fillipina... Also by Jason Mendoza are you referring to that anime involving fillipino characters?

Manbavaran is a westernized spelling of the Cebuano(Filipino dialect) word Mambabarang. In episode 1 she uses a Filipino Broom. The manga had implied her origin. In my head cannon she escapes Philippines so she can have magic mushrooms without the threat of Duterte.Lol
