Did I tell I'm living in rural village of Ilocos. Because of that we don't have the shower with cold and warm button of water. Ancient style, as my daughter would say, as we need to boil water in the pot and add to the water for our bath. That is the traditional way of hot and warm bathing. It's been very cold climate in my place since December and this will last until the second week of February. It's very windy too. Kids want their bathing water to be lukewarm and so we need to boil water for them. Well, sometimes they use the hot water in the thermos.

Well, the same tradition is all over the country here. Some very wealthy family have such switch for hot or cold water. The rest should just boil it in the electric pot or with the rod or boil in the gas. It is cold here too!

@ilocosboy well actually, it is better to pour first warm water to our bodies because it promotes the dilatation of blood vessels, or vasodilation. it is also better if we rinse our bodies with cold water, or cool water, because it promotes the blood vessels to constrict.

The traditional way of warming water can be boring and time consuming but it is good to experience it once in a while.

You don't have to be in the rural areas to have to do it traditionally. I did it back when I was in the Philippines too and I live in the city. Well, not Manila but in my province in Bohol. There is this device that looks like a yellow cylinder which you dip in a pail of water. It has a wire/cord that you plug into an outlet which will heat up the water. But, you have to be careful because it can electrocute you if you touch the water. It used to be a very valuable piece of device but it broke down and we couldn't buy another one.

@ilocosboy Oh yes, keep out of their reach definitely. We always had our dad to do it until we were old and responsible enough. But that thing broke down too quickly. We must have bought like 6 of them in total

Installing geysers is not costly . We have electric geysers or gas geysers in most of the houses. Cost of heating water with an electric rod or geyser is almost equal as far as I think.

That’s how we used to take a bath during the war back in 1992. There was no power or shower water.

Is it costly to install a water heater at home there? Or is it just your preference to do it traditionally?

Yes I experience in a hotel there is instant hot water coming out of the shower. I sometimes boil water too when I feel cold. Today the weather is quite warm I didn't boil water today for my bath
