Third water exercises

Third time down. What did I learn today? I learned that I can adapt. I learned that even though others exercised in the five foot depth, I did not have to. Adapt and again, adapt. Nobody cares. They are busy working their own bodies, not paying attention to what I do or don't do. I heard the instructor say to not do things that hurt. Everything hurts! I learned today all over again to push my limits a little but not go too far. The water enables my bad knee and weak leg to move up and down. Out of the buoyant water, no way. I need to strengthen that leg cause if I don't, it could cause me to fall. Especially in the winter when there are slippery surfaces to walk on, I need to be sturdy and strong. As long as the roads are not too icy, I intend to go back again this coming Wednesday. Its not a pain free way to go but it is a healthy grabbing hold of life, engaging in water exercises as best as I can.

I think exercising in water would be awesome. I walked a couple miles on land.

I wish there were a place close by that had indoor pools to use that the teeny kids weren't using, I'm not good around teeny tots and they always seem to want to get into my space.

It should be a mandatory feature of all nursing homes @sallypup some elderly can benefit from the ease of movement in water.

@rebelann I wish you had a place near you to enjoy water, too. I drive about twenty minutes to get to this pool but I've been griping for years that we adults needed it, so I got my butt up and out!

@rebelann Right on! It would not even have to be a huge pool.

Good for you! Being able to adapt is very important. My legs are weak. I bet it would help to do some exercising in the water. Be glad you have this opportunity. Do the best you can. Hope it helps.

@celticeagle It sounds like you need to get into a water exercise class. Is there even a YMCA or YWCA with a pool near you? You live in a pretty big community so I would think so. Ask the senior center?

@jstory07 You are so thoughtful. Thanks. My left knee is a crunchy beast so there's always a bit of pain.

Water exercise sounds good, I don't know much about it but I think it's gaining popularity here too. I'm glad to hear it has worked well for you.

@cahaya1983 The warm water holds the body up, helping the joints to move without harm. I can move in water in ways that I can not move out of water.

Anne exercises pretty often in our clubhouse pool, then goes into the hot tub as well. She even got a really good massage today since her leg was bothering her a lot.

Water is a great place to do exercises! They have a few different water based classes I am so interested in doing! I just wish they coincided better with my husbands off days!
