Family trees. Finding our roots.

I have attempted this several times in the past and have always given up when things have gotten to muddled or hard. But I would really like to see just how far back I can go. So here goes another attempt. I know that my fathers family is Norweigan and Swedish and my moms family is German, Irish and Native American, but exactly how much of each I don't know, and hopefully I will get to understand my heritage better after doing some more research. Have you done family tree searches? Do you know what your heritage is?

Yes, my two aunts did this and traced our family roots back to Scotland. My other grandma's family traced back to Abraham Lincoln's mother.

It all sounds very confusing to figure out myself but my aunt put together very elaborate books for all the family members of the family tree. She went on to write a local published book on members of our family who created an airplane.

I've traced my lineage all the way back to Scotland, to a town just south of Edinburgh called Moffat. I also have Native American blood, both on my mother and father's side. That might explain why I have such tan skin!

Yes! I'm Scottish, Irish, German, etc. I have traced part of my family back to when they got off the boat from Scotland. Its a little merky Irish side. I have found records when they were indentured servants after being freed from being slaves.

@thislittlepennyearns I've been using the different free weekend searches on ancestry com. I may one day pay for their international subscription for a month or two! I really am curious!

I've been working on mine. I was adopted so it's been a bit harder. I did a DNA test and found out I'm Irish, Welsh, Scottish, Italian, Ashkenazi Jewish,Scandinavian and Middle Eastern. I've contacted a few relatives but mainly you see distant ones in the matches. I did find out I have a half sister I've never met.

I know about my great grandparents on my dad’s side and my grandparents on my mom’s side. I never felt a burning urge to research the family history.

Our roots were very strong in past as my grand grand grand father was head in a village and used to listen all the issues and resolve them. Just like a panchayat does including 4 5 members in that. Which they gave a surname as "CHOUDHARY" for many long years we were living their with whole family. As time past everyone moved out to where career made us to move. I still go there once when I go on vacation.
