Why did I pay more?

Yesterday when I was ready to go back home from the office, I usually make sure I have exact change for the minibus fare. Why should it be exact? If the fare is not in the exact change, drivers usually give short change. I am the person who doesn't like to complain about being given a short change.
So, here what happened yesterday, I had 4 coins each in 500 IDR, so I still needed 2,000 IDR to have an exact change of 3,000 IDR. That's the amount for the minibus fare to get home. After a quick search in my waist bag, I could get one 2,000 IDR banknote.
I rushed out of the office for fear of rain and I could catch a minibus just as soon as I arrived where I usually wait for the bus. I got off giving the fare, which I clasped, to the driver. No sooner than the bus left me did I realized that it was 4,000 IDR not 3,000 IDR. Why didn't I count first before it was handed over to him. What a day!

Sometimes it really happens. It's always better to have exact money at hand. 4,000 IDR looks a lot of money

I agree with. It crossed my mind yesterday. So, it wasn't at all a loss to me.

Atleast you have learned your lesson. Prepare your exact fare and put it inside your pocket so the next time you hand it to the driver you will not worry whether you have given more or less.
