Good morning, friends.
I am here, but also with the TV on to watch the visit of Pope Francis. While he is in Santiago, there is going to be a holiday here. Then, when he visits other places, stores and work places will close. The idea is to be able to hace more security measures during his visit and to give the people who want to see him the possibility of doing so.
I am not Catholic, but I am grateful that he asked for pardon for the abuses that members of the church have done with children. He was applauded when he said that and I hope that from now on the church will not be so lenient with the priests who have done that.
I like a Pope who says things like that, but I am not sure if he has the power of changing anything. What do you think?

He can try to motivate people to make positive changes.

I hope so. Now that more people are daring to talk about abuses done to them, I hope that helps stop abuses.

Yes he does have the power to change things and I believe he is trying.

@marguicha I agree with you- they should be way harder on any priests who are involved- and I'm Catholic!

He may not but he has the ability to bring people together.

I agree with you. Still, it is a step in the right direction. But I donĀ“t know how much he can really do, having powerful conservative priests in the Vatican.

@LadyDuck I agree. I never was convinced that was the illness.

@marguicha He was pretty young and he did not look at all sick when he became Pope.

I think so too. But it is an important step that there is now a Jesuit at the head of the Church.

I feel the same. I also like that he is a Jesuit.

@rheicel I hope so too. I have heard that he chose very small lodgings at the Vatican.

@marguicha Yes, being a Jesuit makes him a simple and humble person. Hope he lives long so he could continue inspiring other people.

I'm not catholic either. But I think more should be done about the abuses though.
