Cleaning The Rugs

Today is the day my daughters decided to clean our rugs. I don't know if this is a good idea or a bad one but since I'm not the one doing the work I can't complain. I got a Bissell rug shampooer and carpet cleaner a week ago and have wanted to get the rugs cleaned for awhile. My youngest daughter isn't working today and her sister said she would come over to help. The whole house has hardwood floors except for the stairs and the hallway upstairs. There isn't a lot of carpet but it is looking really dingy and dirty. Bad move on my part to choose a carpet of a light brown color (darker than beige and lighter than a milk chocolate). I wanted something neutral but now it's really looking dirty. We have snow coming later in the day, my grandchildren are getting out of school early and will probably come with their mom and keep me company while the rugs are getting shampooed. I'll be happy to see how much cleaner the rugs will look and even if they aren't perfect they have to be better than how they look now. That's my exciting plans for today. What excitement do you have planned?

I feel a great satisfaction when I clean the rugs, it is incredible how much dust accumulates during the weeks.

My rugs are in dire need of shampooing especially since the stairs and hallway is a high traffic area

Some spots need stain remover scrubbed in first. I hope it looks like new when finished. I want to give mine a good cleaning but I can't yet in case the fuel lines freeze up again the carpet won't dry and will get stinky.

I hope the rugs cleaned up well. We played golf with my brother, his wife, and our other sis in law, then ate lunch in the clubhouse, well, on the deck outside. It was such a beautiful day. I also had company. It never ends here. Lol!

I am always amazed by the difference in the rugs when they get shampooed. My excitement was going to see The Greatest Showman. Great movie.

It's seems really difficult to choose a carpet that doesn't show the dirt. We need to get on with preparations for our outdoor concert but it's raining.

@Marilynda1225 It was murky this morning but at long last it does seem to be properly clearing. I am feeling much more confident about the weather.

I always hated shampooing the carpets, your lucky you can get someone else to come do it for you. I bet they will look great once they are done.

Years ago when I lived in a rented house, I had to pay carpet cleaners to come in and do the job.

I was going to hire a company to do it but my daughter thought it would be easy for her to do as well as cheaper

Once those rugs are cleaned and spiffy again make sure visitors remove their shoes. It would be a shame to get them dirty without enjoying the cleanliness for awhile

@Marilynda1225 We cleaned the carpets last week and it just feels so much nicer. I guess with the dogs around they were quite dirty.

Same here. The dogs have added to the problem as well as it being a high traffic area
