A Close Call

As I mentioned in my post this morning (How Cold is Cold?), I was going to have to go outside in the freezing temps to take care of my donkeys. As I made my way up the steps and onto the pallet to open the sliding door to the building, the door was frozen shut.
The motion of me trying to pull the door open with no result wound up spinning me around and falling down onto the pallet on my hip. Now since you all know about my spinal injuries and total osteoporosis of the spine and hips; this was not a good thing.
I laid there for a second thinking, "Oh duckie!" Here I am in the freezing cold and I might have broken my hip. I got up slowly; okay. Stood up; okay. Got off the pallet and stepped to the side and tried to open the door again. This time it opened. Went in and got the hay and a hammer, went to the donkeys and fed them and busted up their water tubs.
I made it back to the house and after peeling layers of coats, scarves, earmuffs and gloves, started feeling my hip and back. Yup, I'm sore. Time for an Icy/Hot Patch and my Tommy Copper waist belt. No more outside for me today. Geez!!

I do too @rebelann ; I'm sure in a few hours I'll really be feeling the affects. I feel bad for the donkeys.

@rebelann When I went to feed them I didn't see any ice on them which is a good thing.

@LadyDuck Exactly and that's what I figured would happen. I guess me crumpling up before I hit helped.

Me too @marlina ; that's all I'd need. Then who would take care of those dingy donkeys.

@BACONSTRIPSXXX They're a little upset that their water tubs have been frozen every day and they have to wait for me to take care of business.

Considering I've pretty much got just skin over my bones, I'm surprised it didn't break @BACONSTRIPSXXX .

.It's amazing how many close calls I've had @WorDazza and managed to come out on the good side of things. The donkeys would be pretty miffed if I didn't take care of them. And yeah, I guess an additional 'o' would make a difference between a waist belt and a comedian.

@nanette64 Somebody must be watching over you!
If it was a Tommy Cooper waist belt then it would probably go around your neck!!!

I'm doing pretty good today which is a surprise @DianneN . I pretty much just have skin wrapped around my bones, so avoiding something broken is a good thing. And you know me, I'm a critter caretaker.

I usually try to @JohnRoberts . This incident came as a real surprise considering how careful I was just walking up those steps and onto the pallet. It never even entered my mind that the door would be frozen. Lesson learned; the hard way.
