Good afternoon. Finally getting around watching the movie "Detroit ".I am shocked and disgusted that this has happen. In the sixties I heard about this.Did not realized how bad this was. I am so ashamed to see this movie and the way the blacks were treated. Almost hating the white people in that movie. This was happening in our country. I am not talking about the looting there. Talking about how the white people there did not care about the blacks. I was sick to my stomach while watching this. Have you seen this movie.
From Kathryn Bigelow, the award-winning director of The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty, comes the gripping story of one of the most terrifying secrets in A...

I'm not able to view the link. But having lived within an hour of Detroit, I can tell you that racism is alive and disgusting in that area. It makes me shudder because we should just embrace our neighbour's differences and learn and admire them. I was always very uneasy when we went to Lions football games, and quite literally, I always felt more akin to joking with the black fans around me then the white ones. But then that's just me, they seemed more down to earth like we are.

@amadeo Yes it is. We used to watch their news on the TV, and about 2 or 3 times a week there would be a (hate crime) shooting each week between the races at usually gas stations.

I haven't seen this but there seems to be no end to the different ways one race can discriminate against another.

@amadeo I remember watching a movie a long time ago that showed the cruelty white men did to Native Americans, and made me proud of my heritage as a Native American and appalled by the cruelty of the white men. I can't remember the name of the movie. It was 1972 because I saw it when I was in the military.

Yes, racism is definitely alive and just as disgusting as it always has been. My daughter works in a children's hospital in downtown Detroit, it's horrifying what goes on even today!

I think that is a movie that I do not want to see. Not right to treat anyone that way.

This isn't a film I have seen, but I have heard of it. I often think these films, based on truth, shoukd be shown in school and then discussed in detail. Maybe it woukd sway some kids from growing up with their parents racist views.
