Worse!

Yesterday I made a discussion about positivity that we the part - time clinical instructors will not have tax deductions anymore. I received a text message from my colleague Miss Cata stating that we were still deducted 8% and we are excluded from the tax exemption according to our dean (who previously said he will help look into the stagnation of our salaries since 2006). This is worse.i surfed the Internet about the government offices where we can complain. I even called up the Labor government office, to which I was advised to communicate with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR). I have posted here a part of our exchange of messages and I really plan to go to the school's accounting office to ask for a copy of my last year's Income Tax Return (ITR) and I should presume all my ITRS since 2005 are filed in their logbooks. If not I have no other option but to air my grievance to the president of the school. Worse, but not yet the worst!

I hope you can get a clear response from the authorities to know exactly if and how much you have to pay. Or if you have to pay nothing at all.

when i talked to Ma'am T and she explained everything, i thought that i should check our next salary if the directive is already implemented.

that is absolutely true. you know, i and my students have our dinner at the hospital cooperative canteen. i was surprised when i had to pay my dinner which consisted of a cup of rice (i usually have 1 and 1/2 cups), 1 meat viand, and a bottle of 12 oz mountain dew. before it costs P73, but then it went to P74, then P75, and the night of Thursday, it was P80. the cola drink had a huge increase due to the excise tax.it costs P20 now.

I am so sorry, Ingrid. This is not fair to you and other part-time clinical instructors. I hope this can be sorted out.

there is no other part-time clinical instructor who can go directly to the persons in authority and since i am the most outspoken among the CI's, i did the responsibility.

i spoke to Ma'am T yesterday and because i was serious in asking her, she sort-of stuttered in responding. but she explained it well, so i toned down and thanked her.

sadly, we are deducted 8% and i hope it won't go back again to 10%. no, it is not income tax at all, as expounded by Ma'am T.

I'm not really sure what's going on, but it doesn't seem fair to you at all. I hope everything can be resolved.

yes, it was not really fair at all. we were always deducted 10% every pay day and now that it is 8%, there were still no explanations for what the deductions are, and we all assumed that is for our income taxes.
