Two days ago my mother fell and cracked her rib. She was not using her walker and was outside her room in her night gown at 8 in the morning. She is never up that early and they're not allowed to leave their room in their pajamas. We think she might have gotten up to go to the bathroom and took a wrong turn. As a result she cracked a rib and is now bedridden. She cannot be left alone at mealtime so today I will be going to spend the day with her. Once she takes her pain killer she sleeps. Yesterday my sister was with her when she said, "All I can see is John laughing at me." That's my father who passed away 12 years ago next month. My sister suggested he was calling her to go to him and it was her decision. While making dinner last night a light bulb in one of the kitchen light fixtures flickered for about two minutes and then stopped. It was a little disturbing to me and as a result I didn't sleep well last night. The Catholic mass is held at the residence today so I will get the priest to give my mother Communion and anoint her. We shall see how the day goes. It might be her time. Have a good day, wherever you are.

Thanks, as I texted my husband on my way home - the miracle that is my mother has risen from the ashes. She was in so much pain in the morning and then got fed up with being in bed and got up and got dressed all by herself. Crazy lady!!! Thanks for the prayers.

Your sister may be right or you may just have a faulty light bulb. However, if you feel she is leaving, you have to let her go. I told my mom "I love you, and I'll miss you like crazy, but don't hang around on my account. I'll get by."

It's not a faulty light bulb. It only flickered very briefly and never again. As for my mother, she was a screaming invalid as I had 3 people trying to get her up in a sitting position, and then did an about face and got up and got dressed and marched down the hall (with her walker) to go for coffee hour. So a pretty quick recovery indeed.

Right before my mother passed away (quite some years ago) she kept talking about her late husband and father as if they were still around. She would say things like, "Yeah, I just talked to him yesterday." Of course, it had been years since he passed. I think she was peering into the other side in her dreams and daydreams and the veil was getting very thin for her. It was not long before she joined them on the other side.

@BACONSTRIPSXXX I heard a human whistle at 4am when all were asleep except me. I know no one was up and messing with me for a fact so that one was a quite puzzling. I do have an idea in mind for a paranormal romance novel along these lines.

@patgalca Ohhh this is thriller novel material. Im fascinated with these type of stories and encounters. The most I ever saw was a shadow of a man infront of a picture of my grandfather who passed away. I didnt feel threatened just startled to the point where I could not move or react

I am so sorry for this. Leaving alone is a risky one. May Almighty bless her good health. Get well soon.
