Recently when I visited my grandsons,my daughter-in-law gave me some sweet ripe Mulberry fruits from the tree in their back yard. They were delicious. I remembered when I was a kid plucking those fruits with the help of my mother and eating them. She told me to careful and to wash them well before eating them as there may be worms (Silkworms) because the mulberry tree leaves are their food. Though I used to eat the fruits as they are delicious, there are so many benefits for the fruits. They are full of nutrition, vitamins and a remedy for many health issues including prevention of Cancer . Good news for weight watchers--they are low in calories. There may be side effects for some people. As the fruits are very rich in potassium, people with kidney problems should be careful. Also as it lowers blood sugar it may cause hypoglycemia.Rarely some persons may be allergic to this fruit. Mulberry fruits (Scientific name- Morus)come in three colors.White, black and blue.White is native to China.I have never seen blue ones.I am familiar with Black only.(I did read there are red ones which look slightly different and are rare ,Those are grown in USA especially California). It is only rarely available at supermarkets. But we may get them from farmer's market. It seems it is available from amazon.com.at all seasons. Have you eaten them?Or have you had Mulberry preserves, jams or wines?

We had several mulberry trees when I was a youngster. We didn't wash them...we good outside and ate them straight from the tree. We would come into the house with our moths and hands stained from the dark coloured juicy berries.

I was given a big container full to take home after visiting some friends recently. They were delicious and I really enjoyed them. I remember picking them when I was a child and getting stained fingers. You could remove the stain best by rubbing them with an unripe mulberry. Do you do that too?
