I became a patient

I think most of you know that I work in the local hospital, however, this evening I became a patient. I’ve not been 100% the last week or so and had guessed I could have problems with my prostate from what I had read online. The other day I did go to my doctor regarding it. This evening I end up in the hospital with very bad abdominal pains after I couldn’t go to the bathroom for a pee for much of the day. They put in a catheter and drained of fluid too much relieve and suddenly felt on top of the world, the pain soon discovered, and I felt much better. I could have an enlarged Prostate, but further tests and needed and whether or not it could be cancerous. Scary!! I’m now back home with my new close friend, a catheter for the company, until after the weekend and then a few days in the hospital next week, joys of getting older. I hope everyone is all ok.

@kevin1877uk He's good now. He had to have his prostate removed, but thankfully it was stage 2, and no further action was needed.

If it's not a kidney stone that blocked the urethra, it is very possible that it's only a symptom of enlarged prostate. Food helps to shrink prostate. Avoid fried foods, processed foods, too much sugar and artificial sweeteners. Limit dairy foods and red meat.

Thank you Anna, enlarge prostate and not a stone. I've been given medication to reduce the size. I don't eat fried food, processed food, yes, but I do cook a lot of my own food. I've cut down on sugar and dairy foods.

Oh, that sounds a bit worrying. It will be a relief to have the tests done and know for sure what the problem is.

I started to eat healthy and exercise more these few years, as I want to enjoy when I get old but not worry about my poor health. I was not feeling well in the past few months, small illnesses here and there, but I am glad I am feeling alright now. I hope everything will be fine for you.

Thank you, it can be a little uncomfortable at times, but otherwise, it's ok. They didn't find any stones when you drained fluid off and I did have an examination for Prostate, which wasn't nice and was give meds to reduce to prostate small.

In the UK there is no need for medical insurance, unlike the USA. Here in the UK with have the NHS, you can go to your doctor or hospital and have treatment.
