Today was my grandsons graduation officially into the United States Navy. After two months of hard work and dedication in boot camp, he graduated as a team leader and is looking forward to continuing learning to finally accomplishing to be a Navy Seal. In high school he was a star track runner as well as being a lead saxophone player in the high school band. He has always been a kid that set high goals and always achieved what he went after, including teaching himself to ice skate on the frozen roads in front of my house when he was about 5 years old and getting a job as a guard in a local ice skating rink and finally become a goalie for his college and winning the championship during his sophomore year. Needless to say all our friends and family are so amazed at his accomplishments already and now he is ready to move on to more dangerous challenges.

And he's a beautiful example, for other young men to learn from! When a man sets his goals high and then achieves them, it shows us just how mature this young adult has become. It's no wonder, you are so proud of your grandson:) He's amazing!

@ramapo17 I love to hear about children, with so much determination to do their best. My grandson Nate had low self-esteem, he stopped trying to do things. Then he met Shauni. She said, 'Nate, you're not a loser!' Get off your duff and learn how to read better. She sat down with books and made him practice reading out loud. Eventually, he went back to high school, got his diploma, and ended up going to college! Now, he has a wonderful job with Delta Airlines thanks to his wife, Shauni:)

@ramapo17 Well, I'm glad I made you laugh, even though I didn't mean it to be funny per se! The message I was trying to convey was that he will do a great job protecting the American way of life!

Thank you. He called us today after the graduation as we haven't spoken to him in months. When not in the Navy he lives in New Jersey and we are in Florida. I miss the connection we always had since his birth but in life when it is time for kids to move on we have to let them spread their wings.

@ramapo17 You are a long way apart now. But it's true. You have to turn them free eventually.

@JudyEv I remember when I was about 21 and I got a job as a hairdresser on cruise ships. My parents didn't like it at all as I was going all over the world. After a few days and my dad talking to one of his friends he changed his mind before I left so I didn't go away with him angry.

Thank you. It was an exciting day for all of us especially since the whole thing was on the computer so I got to see it. I actually had better seats this way than going to see it in person.

@Courtlynn We didn't think we would see it as there are only so many tickets given to each Sailor. Plus it was so great not having to get dressed and fly all the way there. It was comfy in my slippers.

Thank you for the kind words. He has big plans on things he wants to do in the Navy, like becoming a Navy Seal which is so scary to me. We can't hold kids back from their dreams. I will just hold my breath.
