The Government Shut Down

It will be interesting to see how long this will go on. My son works for a government contractor and they follow the federal schedule so they may be closed down. I am thinking that the budget may be passed by the time Monday rolls around, but I am thinking his agency might be closed. I will have to check with him on this. I doubt he would mind a little extra time off at all! Do you know any affected govt. employees?

I only know that Mr Donald should be in Switzerland for the Davos meeting and if the problem is not solved, he will not be here.

@LadyDuck Is it an environmental summit? What is it about? He prefers to fly around at taxpayer expense of course..

How long will it last? Probably the weekend, where there’s very little impact. BTW, people need to do a little research: Social Security will be paid on February 3rd even if the government is still “shut down.” VA payments will still be made. Medicare and Medicaid will still be provided. The notion that there’s a “government shutdown” is more along the lines of “the bloat isn’t working for a couple of days.” Those poor Congressmen will have to go fetch their own coffee over the weekend.

Yes, the news made it quite clear essential services will continue. they always do,.and I doubt they are fetching their own coffee either.! Their dedicated aides are there no matter what! They will send a page to do the dirty work if they aren't.

I remember every year when Obama was in office this same thing, I think its just a government thing, no one wants to give up any money, I would love to see them not pay themselves for once. Trump is not taking the pay, is he?

@snowy22315 ohhh... So till when it would be shut down?.. I think personally Donald Trump isn't a great president, if Hillary Clinton would be president than it would be much good for US and India too

Well, hopefully it will be short lived. Basically, non essential government services will not be funded. Also, not sure about military pay that may be affected as well..but I don't see this going on too long.

A brother of my sister-in-law works in DC as a civil engineer for the army, I suppose he may be affected. As Trump seems unable to accept a bi-partisan agreement, I am afraid that this shutdown can last during a long time.

I just heard about this this morning. I hope it all gets sorted out quickly or it could be very inconvenient for many people.
