Have you ever posted a discussion which received responses, all in one accord or in total agreement with your point of view? . Now, what kind of topic would that be? - keeping in mind that Mylot's members hail from different countries all over the world - different cultures, beliefs etc. My recent post "Google to the rescue" - received responses which were almost a hundred percent in total agreement. Of course - everyone knows Google is very helpful - but what other kind of topic could generate responses that are in total agreement? Pets maybe, the weather, food, bereavement. Would you prefer to write about topics which you know will receive very few disagreeing comments - or it doesn't really matter?

Posts on myLot as such are always of universal interest. Book reviews invariably bomb.

@Kandae11 I thought so, too. But they don't find the way to my book reviews. En route they're distracted by 'What I had for breakfast' posts or announcements that someone's mother-in-law's brother celebrated his birthday.

@MALUSE New books are so expensive these days , the opportunity to read a review before buying could be only beneficial.

@Kandae As for me my friend I just post anything that comes to mind and it is up to the reader or our fellow myLotters to agree, disagree or just remain neutral. Although there are indeed some topic/subject that are divisive and controversial. If you asked me if I like politics and religion as a topic/subject my answer is yes 100% since as a human being you connot separate yourself as part of our society with its government and religion unless of course you are leading a hermetical life.

Many members say they avoid religious topics - also those that are political.

It doesn't really matter much to me although I don't like to be too controversial so I am careful about what topics I choose.

Reminds me of MatPat's video on "Fake News" where he reminds us that the most-shared 'news' is the 'news' that makes people angry. Here on MyLot, that translates to 'more interaction on posts that people disagree with than -on posts where everybody's agreeing (except for "inadequate replies" like 'Amen!' or 'Yep-Yep-Yep').' Or maybe that's just me

What you are saying is quite true, - but calm, quiet, non -controversial posts get many responses too. Check the post which presently holds the top spot on the top rated with 70 responses - a most non -controversial post.

@Kandae11 I would've included a link to that discussion. That wouldn't have broken the T&C, would it @GoAskAlice?

@mythociate No it wouldn't have broken the rules, but i felt if you are interested you would simply take a peek at the top rated - there won't be many posts up there with over 70 responses.

HMM, I have, but find Mylot is a bit biased these days. Not many challenge one another to keep arguments at a minimum. If you can do that on Youtube or Facebook, then you did something. My latest was about the Lakers and dumb Ball family, should not say dumb because kids seem reasonable but dad is just dumb and called out Facebook to stop showing me about his show because a Laker fan and had everyone in agreement, like 5 people but come from all political sides and the best part Facebook never has shown me another notification about the Ball family. I like when people actually listen.

@Kandae11 Its not bad thing but people cannot discuss anymore when disagreeing, they get mad and call people names. So give Mylotters props for that,

Well for me everybody's opinion matters. Then I choose the best among the answers. But yeah, sometimes We like to hear people agree with our thoughts to make us confirm that we are 100 percent right. Sometimes one disagreement can bother us as well. It's better to choose the best answer otherwise. But I'm glad to be able to study how people think and have different opinion.
