When A Doctor Says He Is Worried...

When a doctor says he is very worried, that is when you should be worried, right? My blood tests came back fine and I am not a diabetic, I don't have a cholesterol problem and my ticker (heart) is fine too. But there was another problem that I didn't think was a problem...until the doctor told my sister he is very worried about me and wants to speak to my GP first... So if I haven't been around much, I have had a bit much on my mind.... Plus my Birthday was on the 21st January, I wanted a quiet day, not in the mood to party. Tuesday I find out what the worry is...2018 is sure off to an interesting start. I hope January is being kinder to the rest of you? Have a good week all.

That seems very unprofessional of the doctor to tell your sister that - it's your body for goodness sake! Sorry your birthday was spoiled, and I hope that there turns out to be nothing wrong with you.

I know, Janet, I am very unhappy with how this was handled. Thank you @jaboUK , it's been 4 days I have been worrying, tomorrow I find out.

I agree @marlina, this was a doctor I did not know and it was unprofessional of him to do what he did. Thank you, the procedure was last week, I will find out tomorrow what the worry is.

I hate when they make us wait that long. I hope it’s just something minor

Here this doctor would be in trouble, talking with a relative about health issues of another person is strictly forbidden. Even my husband could not know before I give my (written) permission.

@LadyDuck that makes sense. But here this is not the case, as far as I know. And I agree with you that her sister shouldn’t have told her.

@Madshadi My husband had a problem last year, the doctor performed some tests, he checked, he said nothing but asked for more test and to come back a week later. He told us later that he had seen something scary in the first blood test, he thought it was something serious, but it was only a urinal infection. When the infection cleared, the tests came out perfect. He told me because I was with my husband and he asked if he could tell me.

You sister should have not told you and the doctor should have said nothing to your sister. I am sorry you are so worried, I hope that it's nothing to be worried about.

@bluesa I fully agree with you, your sister should have not been informed, so she would have not been in the position to worry you. Complain with your GP. This was handled in a very unprofessional way.

@LadyDuck, this was all handled very badly, my sister should not have been put in the position of having to tell me. I will let my GP know that I am not happy with how all went. Thank you, I also hope this is nothing too awful.

Think positive thoughts Cat! Doctors sometimes get things wrong, or exaggerate fears for no necessary reason. Sending you a big hug!

@moffittjc Hi, Jeff . Yes, I think he is trying to keep you healthy. This diet is to help see if I can close some ulcers, the diet and the medicine should help. I hope you'll have a good Monday.

@bluesa My doctor has been telling me for the past couple of years that I need to make some diet changes, or else he'll have no choice but to put me on various medications. But I'm stubborn and don't listen! haha However, I am actually very healthy currently, I think he is just trying to keep me that way!

You won't be too surprised to hear that I have everything crossed for you. Hopefully it's nothing serious. I agree with some of the other comments here. Most unprofessional of the doc to go blabbing to your sister. It's pretty obvious she's going to tell you. It's bound to cause potentially unnecessary worry on your part!!

Yes, ta, but lawdy, you hafta un-cross some essentials, can't have you getting the vapours. Thank you, Dazza, me too. Yes, he should never have put my sister in that position, if he wanted to speak to my GP first then he should have kept his thoughts to himself.

@bluesa I can understand him wanting to talk to someone else first but he should have not said anything at all until he had already talked to the other guy.

@shaggin I agree. He should not have said a thing until he had talked to my GP. I am still unsettled by it all. Thank goodness it is something that can be controlled. It was just handled badly.

Belated happy birthday. I wasn't on here the whole weekend so I missed your birthday. I will pray for you. It's Tuesday here now and I know it's not yet on your side. I hope to hear whatever that worry is and I hope that you will have nothing to worry about once the doctor clear things up.

@bluesa When I was a kid I never ate vegetables and my uncle told me that when I get older, I'm most likely to have some colon related illness. I have no idea how that would affect your life but I really do hope it works out fine.

i think the doctor should not say that to your sister. there is professional ethics and also patient confidentiality that the doctor should always uphold. why can he not tell it directly to you, and why should he talk to your sister first about his concerns? happy belated birthday to you, my friend. i hope you had a stress-free day.

First off! Happy Birthday I'm happy you were able to have a quiet day. I'm sorry the physician behaved in such an unprofessional manner. I hope that it turns out to be nothing. A friend of a friend just had that happen to her. The Dr. said a similar thing and.... it turned out to be nothing near as much of a problem. I will send prayer.
