Is being atheist good or bad?

Am From India. In India their are many religion. Almost all religion can be found here.
Their are many Temple's, Churches,Mosques,etc.
So it's natural everyone is spiritual and follows the religion which they are either born from same religion following family or they adopt different religion.
So being born to a typical middle class, I have been exposed to religion at very young age. I started seeing things differently about religion. I came to a conclusion that God doesn't exist .
But friends could not accept that. They keep nagging about the importance of God.
They even consider me as a demon follower,
They say I worship demon. But how can I tell anyone that the person who don't follow religion is not demon worshipper.

That is just the assumption of some religious people, if you don't follow their religion then you're automatically bad. Dont believe them, question everything, be curious and learn for yourself.

@batwings Most people find comfort when other people follow what they're doing. You do not have to follow them. You don't even have to explain yourself. If they can't respect your choices, they are not really worth your time :)

Neither, since all religions are based on faith with absolutely no proof of fact it is entirely a personal choice. I feel like this, if a person can be good, positive, loving and above all KIND then that person has little to gain from religion. They are already above and beyond those who NEED God to be those things.

Ya I totally I agree with that . Help fellow human being. No matter how much you prey for forgiveness and donate money, if you can't help other human and animals , you are the worst the kind. But people get too much dependent on their religion. They go extreme and create blood shed in the name of their good.

We all have a choice as to what we will believe and we will have to accept the consequences and results of our choice. In some areas being atheist is viewed negatively and in other places having a religion or a certain religion is viewed negatively. That's life!
