Some folks don't like cats

Thank you, I thought she was too @sallypup she was also the friendliest cat I've ever had, she wanted to sit on anybodies lap that would let her, then she'd purr really loud and 1 lady was so shocked she thought Prissy was growling. I don't think that lady had ever been around a cat before, this was in the mid 1980s.

@rebelann We used to have a big old boy kitty named Tiger. He was freaked scared of humans. Then the pastor's wife showed and wow she was frightened of cats. Tiger headed right for her like he'd never met such a fine human! Scream!!

@sallypup Black. Her name is Baybay. She has a son and his name is Tommy and he is yellowish and white stripes in color.

@sallypup That makes us even. I love dogs and have had a few. Now, I can't have any pets where I am.

@NJChicaa I'm sorry for your loss. I wish you lived near me. You could help me figure out how to care for the neighbor's neglected tribe of cats. One girl kitty is climbing my screen door, trying to get in. I hope she is not preggers. All those poor babies are so emaciated. You guessed it. I have been giving them a little food cause seeing them in such horrid shape is driving me bonkers.

@sallypup I would do the same thing in your situation. Sometimes we have a stray come to our back door and I feed it for as long as it shows up.

@NJChicaa Its a no win situation here cause there are at least 10 cats plus dogs and Spring is coming....

@GardenGerty I got his name from that 50s crooner and partly from a relative named Sonny. I wish I could take him to a nursing home. I bet the seniors would love to play with his fur.

@PriscillaKing I need you over here in my county. This county does not value cats. Its a horrid situation and nothing I can do but cry for those who suffer cause of it. I worked at a cat clinic years ago. We had a lovely natured Manx named Sydney there for many years. He helped with blood transfusions when that was needed. Big, bull headed black and white guy.

@sallypup Some cats do better at nursing home visitation than others. The ones who hide from visitors aren't ideal for cheering up strangers in strange places... One cat who stayed with me, about a year ago, had a natural talent for nursing home visitation. She was Manx--not everyone's favorite breed, typically big fat animals with short hair, but the hair does tend to be soft and the cats tend to have bland, calm temperaments. They often bond intensely with just one person, then tolerate being petted by other people as long as Their Human says it's okay. If I wanted to train a cat to visit nursing homes, I'd definitely look for a friendly Manx-type at a shelter; large shelters usually have one, and organizations often subsidize spaying/neutering.

@LindaCPearson No but he should cause he has a story that he is keeping secret from me his human. He took off outside and freaked me, his Mom, totally out. Gone for eight days. I thought he was a goner due to coyotes and the cold snow and ice and that Vet diet thing that he hates.....There's a story. I'm just relieved to have him back.

@rheicel You're afraid of your cat? Start small, putting your hand out so that kitty can sniff your hand. Don't startle kitty and I bet kitty will be kind back.

@rheicel Then I understand why the cat clawed your poor Mom. It was thinking it was going to fall off the roof and die. Your Mom is brave. But just take it slow and easy with the cat and I bet you won't get hurt.

@sallypup I'm kind of afraid because one time my mom got clawed by our cat when she was trying to get her from a rooftop.

@Bullshark I'd love to have a neighbor like you. Having animals makes it very hard to go on trips cause somebody needs to care for them all the time, not just when we feel like it.

@sallypup I don't have cats myself, but my neighbors do. They make me cat-sit from time to time when they're away, which I don't mind doing at all, because I like their cats.

Great song, but I'm glad it's not true... Magic (not the cat in my signature graphics, but a similar type) was a once-in-a-lifetime pet, for sure. So, however, was Graybelle. And Mackerel. And Mogwai. And Heather, Irene, and Ivy as a team of social cats. And so may well become my junior cat Samantha, despite the bad habits she's learned.

@thedevilinme. Sometimes. Years ago a cat woke me from a deep sleep. I got up to yell at cat for bothering me and discovered that I'd left a pan to burn up on the stove.
