We have this luncheon meat once a week. It's good for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I really love the taste of this pork luncheon meat. It similar to Spam but if I compare Maling it taste better and yummy. This is a product from China. So there is one quality product from China. Many local meat product companies here in the Philippines try to make their own version of this Maling but you will be disappointed. No one can imitate the taste of Maling. Do you have a favorite pork luncheon meat in can?

I like MaLing although my family prefers SPAM because it has so many flavors to choose from and some are exclusive for the Philippine market. We also buy the local Purefoods luncheon meat at times.

@averygirl72 our family's love for SPAM goes back to the liberation of our country from the Japanese occuption, my grandmother told me that the Americans brought so much SPAM that they made stairs going up the house from it. SPAM also fed soldiers fighting our enemies during WWII that is the reason, we patronize a patriotic company that helped us get our freedom, I pass on the story to my children.

I couldn't eat it. I had Spam as a kid and hate it. It gags me just to think about it, so I would not be able to eat that either.

@averygirl72 My dad suffered a lay off when I was very young and he got food from a co-op. It had a lot of spam in it, so much that we were eating it every day. I soon got very sick of seeing it every day. I can't eat it today.

Ma Ling was always requested by my Pinoy friends in Kuwait whenever i come home for a vacation, but i read on news today about a copycat of maling as spelled Ma Leing, and it was not meat but plastic. incidentally, we have some luncheon meat and Spam here at home so we do not buy Ma Ling.

Although I try to avoid consumption of processed foods, I would still buy some that we could eat when there is not much time to prefer food or there are unexpected visitors. I would prefer SPAM over MaLing.

No, sorry I do not eat anything pork. But I can appreciate that sometimes a taste in a particular product is just right for you...and you look forward to having it. Nothing in a can leaps out at me. We have three hot meals a day...but my sister in law is happy to cook. My family is an extended one.
