Remember Jacket Potato? It still has its skin, right? Whenever you want to boil or steam the potato, you are suggested not to throw its skin as the skin is also good for your health. In our country, most people peel off the skin of potato before they cut it into cube-like pieces. Such peeled boiled potatoes are mixed with chilli and pieces of meat. This food is normally served at the wedding reception. What are cooked unpeeled potatoes best mixed with? For health reason, I usually add nothing. What about you?

We keep the skin on if the potatoes are "young potatoes", we peel the old potatoes. Potatoes are very inexpensive here.

@yanzalong Potatoes are one of the most inexpensive thing in Switzerland. I plant them even in my vegetable garden, they grow so easily.

I think you need to wash carefully the potatoes if you will eat the skin. Baby potatoes are not peeled. I love potato salad

Mostly we take the peel off except perhaps for potato salad. I know there is a lot of goodness in the skin.

@JudyEv We find it easy to get too. It's available in every small store in the neighborhood. Three or four medium sized potatoes are worth the price of a kilogram of rice.

@yanzalong Potatoes are considered cheap in Australia. For the older traditional families it is a staple item and eaten probably nearly every day.

I like to leave the peels on. You can just boil them, add butter and herbs, like dill weed. I will use them to make potato salad as well.

I don't peel carrots or potatoes. Garlic is good with potatoes.
