You are supposed to avoid some types of food when you have shingles. I didn't know about this but I did some research and found very good information. The foods that trigger shingles are nuts, milk, Jell-O, grains, bread. You really have to eat healthy. What do you think?

Shingles are not triggered by foods. Shingles are caused by the same type of virus that causes chickenpox. If some food is causing you to get a rash, it is not Shingles. See a doctor if possible.

If you had really bad Chicken Pox when you were smaller and if you happen to be under a lot of stress and say its Autumn that is when they usually come out into the open and make themselves manifest. You can also feel a bit sick and sort of feverish like when you had the Chicken Pox when you a small child a friend told me this as she was alarmed by the rash. Doctor just laughed and said it was a classical presentation of Shingles that are nearly always on the right hand side of the lower ribs starting from benind your back and manifesting on the lowest ribs on the right in big bright red patchy and scaly skin. Its also quite painful. They never told her not to eat anything out of the ordinary just to get more rest and take it easy and it went away by itself. By the way the marks it leaves can take up to a month to subside altogether.

@Maria24 Okay. She just told me how terrible she felt too but the Doctor took no notice and said it was just a routine and nothing out of the ordinary case stuff. Try telling that to my friend who did not feel well.

The foods listed may cause itching and that is the reason why most doctors would want you to avoid them. Processed food should have also been included.

Shingles are like blisters in the skin. Are they itchy and painful? I wish I will never get shingles. Lots of good food to avoid when you have one

@Maria24 when i looked it up online, the reason seems to be that pork has lysine

There is a reason it might have a secret ingredient. A few days ago I stopped drinking sodas.
