I had shingles a year ago on my neck and head. It was horrible, and very painful. I was able to start medication immediately, which lessened the severity of the outbreak, but the nerve pain lasted for well over a month after the shingles were cleared up. I couldn't shave or brush my hair the pain was so bad!

@Maria24 Shingles always follows a nerve trail on your body. so depending on where you first get the outbreak, that will often determine where on your body the shingles will go. Mine first appeared on my neck, and the doctor pinpointed exactly the parts of my face and head that would be affected by them, based on the way the nerves traveled in my body. He was very accurate in his description of where the shingles would appear on my body.
