The mommy of my precious granddaughter and grandson and wonderful wife to my elder son is also an overachiever. She makes us so proud.
This weekend, she was written up for the second year in a row, as one of the top twelve doulas in New York City. That was a huge honor, since there are over 1700 practicing licensed doulas in NYC.
As if that wasn't enough, she begins her new job today at City University of New York School of Professional Studies as Professor of Law and Ethics. She can finally use her law degree again without the long hours.
That's what happens while the kids are in school!

She sounds like an amazing woman.
I like that write-up.
I once knew a local woman who was a doula.
When I asked what a doula is - she looked at me like I was from mars and said "it's like a birthing coach" or something like that..... which didn't really answer my question

@FayeHazel My DIL gets crazy calls from panicked mothers during the day. I think they are all too tired to call at night. lol

@DianneN Ah, it seems like it would be much easier to keep a schedule being the after-the baby is born kind. This lady I knew had a special phone in case her clients went into labor.
Ah yes ^ the above is a nice write up.... makes sense now :-)

Don't ask me how! Her mother and the kids' longtime sitter and friends are there in a pinch, and my son certainly helps out. She also volunteers and is on the board of many other projects. I never heard of doulas until my DIL used them at her own births. It seems that your friend must be very compassionate, too!
