Coming Soon: Super Blue Moon with a Twist

Don't miss the Super Blue Moon with a third incredible characteristic- It will be a Total Lunar Eclipse on January 31! A Super Moon is one that is closer to the Earth, a Blue Moon is the rare occurrence of two full moons in the same month and a Total Lunar Eclipse is when the moon passes through the Earth's shadow. The last time we, in the Americas, saw a SUPERBLUEMOON was in 1866!! And early morning or the wee hours of the morning will be the best time to see it after midnight when the calendar changes to the 31st! And you don't need your protective glasses for this one! Check Google for the best time to see it in your country!! I'll probably miss it though as every time I go to see a phenomenon in space it's cloudy!!

I hope we will be able to see this on the west coast! But I know if I happen to miss it, we can see it online somewhere (but I know it's just not the same).

@MarymargII - Oh, no! We will both have to wait another 19 years for another experience like that one. That's a good reason to plan to live a long time! LOL

I'm excited to witness the super blue moon phenomena but I'm also worried because of the eclipse. Some believes that eclipses brings bad omen.I hope this one brings positive impact.

I'll have to look it up to see if it's expected to be visible here.... Just done that and it seems it won't be visible in England.

Oh I hope you do get to see it- there were too many clouds here. Even looking tonight as it's clearer and the moon would still be bigger.

It's been clear here, and I've seen the moon last night and the full moon two minutes ago. I was sound asleep during the any happenings last night.

I will watch the phenomenon online for locally in Hawaii our time to view SuperBlueBlood Moon, will be between 4-5AM. 1866 was the last time the Moon did this, so in history we are lucky to see it. Our weatherman on the tv news said that it will be cloudy so we may not be able to see the Moon's historic episode in Hawaii. Today, the weather cleared up a bit, so hopefully it might be visible.
