Female Comedians and That Special Something

Last Saturday, my husband and I went out to dinner with two couples before going to the theater to see a comedy show. My friends had seen this female comedian, Jessica Kirson, on a cruise two years ago. They raved about her, so when they heard she'd be appearing locally, we bought tickets.
Usually, I am not a fan of female comedians. I find them filthy-mouthed or boring.
The theater was beautiful, we had wonderful third row center aisle seats, and the opening female comedian was great. When Jessica took the stage, I couldn't stop laughing. Sure, she was filth-mouthed, but boring she wasn't! She was hilarious!
Of course, she spotted my friends, who she had breakfast with on that cruise. Of course, most of her Florida relatives were in the audience. And of course, she singled my husband out during the show and held a public conversation with him. She said he was a very nice man, which I agreed to.
My husband seems to have that special something where he's always singled out in an audience or invited on stage. Mickey Rooney loved him!
Do you have that special something? I happily don't!

@DianneN That's awesome! I saw that movie only once in the theater. I bet it was great on stage.
You're so kind. Did you have the opportunity yet to get my books?
I was referring more to my being overlooked in sports, being last picked every time. I've never been picked out of an audience either. Oh well, such is life.

Valerie - I think you're important. :-) You're a great inspiration with your writing and with your Church group activities and your recent diet success. :-)
I will just as well rather be overlooked in sports too!

I wouldn't know what to do or how to act when singled out. All that attention on me will freak me out for sure.

@DianneN plus the camera focused on you. What if you really have a very awkward facial expression and it goes viral? That will never leave the face of the internet.

I do have to say I'm not a big fan of female comedians too . . . but there are some out there who can be pretty funny! I did get singled out at The Laugh Factory once by a male comedian . . . but that was because I was sitting way up front and it was some Asian joke/remark (which I can't remember now - it was wayyy long time ago). Street performers have singled me out . . . I remember a "butcher" at a Renaissance Faire picked me up and put me over his shoulder and yelled "Wife for sale, wife for sale!!" . . . I remember in San Francisco I was wearing a black and white polka dot outfit while walking with Hubby and a guitarist/singer sang to me "You look hot, polka dot . . . " . . . anyway stuff like that has happened to me. I don't think I have that special something . . . it's probably more like I look "open" and approachable (or that's what I've been told).

If you've ever been down in the Keys, you would know of this raunchy Native American comedian that basically makes fun of everyone and everything. He kind of does a musical thing/comedy thing. The name of him and his band is Big Dik and the Extenders, and he plays at a bar called Woody's. I made the mistake of getting up to go to the bathroom during one of his shows and he let loose a tirade on me, and basically picked on me for the rest of the night. It was horrible! But I'm not sure that was the special something you were talking about! haha

@DianneN I had to spell his name differently so that myLot would allow the comment to go through. It takes a lot to offend me, but man that guy had me pretty red-faced!

@moffittjc He must have been a pig of a man. Just his name alone is a sign.

I have sometimes been singled out by an entertainer, but not usually my husband ... except by magicians! For some reason, magicians can just tell that he is a good candidate to go on stage with them, and he always enjoys the experience.

I love your sweater!
I'm with you. Usually I'm not a big fan of comics either, but this one sounds good.
I have the thing where people recognize me all the time. Even people I don't think I know. I don't want to be rude so I try and visit like I know them....

When I was younger and only in intellectual setting I have that 'special something'. when I go to lectures, workshops or seminars, the lecturer/ presenter speaks directly to me by eyes contact or body language. I don't contribute any thing , or participate in any manner, but they will meet me afterwards and tell me they have never met an unusual person such as me! When I protest I didn't say a word, they'll say I can't fool them...they know! I usually just grin inside... still water runs deep!
