Do people ever question your intelligence?

I have yet to have any issues here. I just wanted to see what experiences you have had. I am the worst at English whether it is reading or writing. It is my least favorite subject. Although I do enjoy writing here. But when it comes to math, art, and science, I excel pretty well. Everyone loves to ask me to calculate the tip or tax on something because I can always do it quickly at the top of my head. My intelligence is always the first positive comment people make after having a conversation with me as well. I think when people see my name--Natacia--and hear it (pronounced Natasha)--then see that I am primarily "black" or "African American" they automatically have lower standards. It is refreshing to change one's opinions in a positive way. Have you had similar experiences? I know we face racism and judgments all the time all over the world, I am just simply asking for your experiences :)

@taciaelisepeace I'm also bad at English that's why I came here to practice the language. I hate that English has many rules.

I am not bad at the language English as it is my native language. As far as academic subjects go, English (Reading and Writing) is my least favorite verses other subjects such as history, math, science and so on. I am bad at memorixing, I like hands on learning :)

@rheicel Here we call the academic subject reading and writing , "English". In a sense you are learning the language properly verses the slang you learn at home. So I am not bad at English, it is just an academic subject I am not good at, if that makes sense? I think that is awesome you are learning the language. I heard it is one of the hardest languages to learn, American English in particular because we don't follow as many rules and use words from many other languages. I would love to learn a second language, Spanish would be great to learn!

Racism is everywhere in this world. It is not in good taste when people decided about you based on your color and native place.

Very true. Sometimes people judge on other reasons too. It is nice when you can show them more than what they think they know.

This is strange how people can make judgement on the basis of the colour of a person.

It happens alot in our culture. The best thing is for everyone to learn from one another and know that not everyone is the same based on color.
