Many times I've been lost after taking a wrong turn. The feeling is one of being on a long and winding road, trying to figure out which direction I should go to find my way back to my destination. If only they had invented the GPS back then. Anyway, enjoy this video "chestnut" by The Beatles as their famous road tune winds us into today's clues. From the "Let It Be" album it was one of the last Beatle's songs Paul McCartney wrote. Enjoy the video! Now for today's favorite ROAD songs and the artists who recorded them. See if you recognize the songs or artists: 1. The song title is somewhere you do not want to be stuck when driving on a road. The female singer wrote this tune for the group's 3rd album. She was going through a personal transition during this LP's recording, after losing 2 band members to drug overdoses. The song peaked at #19 on the US pop singles chart and #2 on the US mainstream rock chart in January 1984. The track's lyrics mentions having a kid at 33 although the female writer was just 32 when the single was released. This singer had an affair which produced a child with the lead singer of a very popular 60's British invasion band. 2. This New Wave group released the tune in 1985 for their best selling sixth studio album. The song is about a joyful way to look at doom, when death is near, or if the world comes to an end. A strange perspective, but perhaps not from a former art student who became a musician. The track was nominated for "Best Video of the Year" at the MTV Video Music Awards 1986. You might recognize this band name from one of their other tunes which had a catch phrase in the lyrics about no discos, parties or fooling around. Well, as a famous bunny said, "That's All Folks." Now, do you have a clue as to the songs and the artists who wrote them? Remember, the songs have the word "Road" somewhere in the title.... Appreciate your comments, answers, and reading my music post. *Bio info from Wikipedia and songfacts.com Photo- google images/quotefancy.com

I saw them the night after I saw Willie Nelson in Honolulu in 1984. Martin Chambers was at the Willie concert. How cool is that!!? #2? Never heard of that band. There's a gorgeous road outside of Bryson City, NC that shares a name with that song (although you don't have to lug an accordion up a mountain on that road the way Jerry Harrison did in the video ). I took a drive on it, and listened to that song the entire drive. There's a city in my mind, come along and take that ride, and it's all right!! Clueless as ever, will someone please buy me a Clue game?

That I am sure was unexpected Mr. Clueless I have a suspicion you like the band in #2. I guess that road "Must of been the Place" to take a joy ride, lol. Seeing those 2 acts is like back to back music for the soul!

Oh, so glad you like that song Paula. A very introspective tune by Paul who was reflecting on the Beatles eventual breakup.
