Recently my husband and I saw “Shape of Water”. We have seen several times the trail to the movie and thought it could be interesting to watch. From the trailer we had gather the information that this is a creature feature and based on the Creature of the black Lagoon. After watching this movie my husband had gone online and verified that this is nothing like the old movies with the creator of the black lagoon. The director said so himself. This is his story of a man like water creature. Here is the break down of the story. We had lady she has been mute since she was baby. Something happened to her that left her with 3 scratches on both sides of her next. Since she is mute she has learned ASL to communicate with others. She works in some military facility as a cleaning lady. One day while cleaning the room where the water creature is being held captive by the bad military man that found him in Africa. These two the military man and creature don’t have the best relationship. (We’ll know duh you took him from his home and are abusing him. Karma has her way with him later.) The lady and the creature start to be come friends. She teaches him ASL and he can tell she won’t hurt him at all. They become close enough where she and her friends help break him out of the facility to set him free. Before he can be freed into the water they must wait till the water canals are filled from the rain storm. Keep in mind this is like the 20’s with the Space race. So we some crazy Russian stuff going on in this story as well. Before he is released him and the lady get closer in a romantic way. They get each other in a soul mate kind of way. In the end the creature saves her from death and both end up in the water to live. I can’t say if it’s a happy ever after it’s not that kind of story but the man creature gets the girl in the end. He some how magical turns her scares into gills so she can breath under water. What the what???? Over all the movie was good. It leaves you at the end questing what happens next to this odd couple but over all it was well done. No crazy CG’s easy to fallow the flow is slow at the start but once it gets going the movie moves along well. It’s recent to this year in 2017.

A different kind of a movie- may be one time watch. I too saw its trailer in the Movie hall. And yes we can't rule out alien like creatures totally.

Yes I agree. I think I might watch it again. My husband likes creature features so it might be something he might watch a few times but not often.
