The Tax Refund Waiting Game

I got my W-2 today. A day later than I should have. The payroll department at my job needs to get with it! Filled out both the federal and state returns. I used a software program for the federal and the one at the department of revenue website of my state for the state tax. I'll get the state back before the federal as I have to wait because I claim earned income credit (EIC). Maybe it's just me, but I think the state one takes longer and can be more confusing than the federal although they have improved it some. On a side note-My son had paid the majority of the electric bill and I was going to pay the rest. He put in the amount I was paying online and I thought everything was good. Kept checking my bank account for when the money came out and after five days it was still there. Today I asked him about it. Turns out he put in the information and then forgot to complete the transmission! It was also my birthday that day and he was thinking more about the bbq dinner he wanted to buy me.

My taxes are done. I had to pay over a thousand bucks for the third year in a row, so the IRS slapped me with a penalty. Ha, I’ll get my revenge when I retire then they can’t touch my money!!!!

Yep, retirement! I'm getting closer to that myself. Just a few years to go or less if I decide to retire early (semi-retire maybe)

I've done that with an online payment. Missing the last step. Oops.
