She was such a terrible maid!

Philippines

I was responding to a post made by @carebear29 about toddler going potty. That sink my mind about my eldest nephew. When He was young he used to poop when ever inside the house. I asked why is he doing that, turns out he was scared of going to the bathroom. Later I learned the previous maid scared him and been traumatized since. I also learned that she threatened to tear up the family, she she got fired! Another thing though is that I never saw them buy a potty bowl for toddlers. The next maid they have now is okay, its been around for years. It turns out she's a relative of our relatives's wife. So, that makes her a relative as well. We don't have maids anymore because of huge trust issues.

Hello @jstory07 Yeah, don't bother because you never know what they can do. You know some of those were also from the agency.

Some maids are demons in hiding. Have heard several terrible news. Some also are good. One has to be careful.

That is true @mydanods they're just not made to do this kind of work, we have to be careful hiring maids.

Poor kid I hated anytime I had to be away from my kids when they were little as I had very few people I could trust.

I was a stay at home mom and left my daughter when she was 2 with a cousin while my husband and I went out for our anniversary. She was never away from her father or I again until she was 5 and went to kindergarten.

Hello @shaggin At least you got a few people that can be trusted, it's hard when they are on the wrong hands.

@Letranknight2015 absolutely that's the reason it's always better to investigate about them before keeping them on the job.

we don't call maids as 'maids' per se. for me, it is somewhat degrading. we call them, or her, 'kasama ng bahay' or 'kasambahay', or in English, house helper.

Hello @ridingbet Well, I didn't know any other term besides maids or baby sitters or domestic helpers. I guess I forgot the terms, that's the term I will use from now on. But I didn't think it was degrading.

@Letranknight2015 a deceased aunt called her servants/maids as 'muchacha', and that word is more degrading than maids.

Hello @JustBhem I'm not familiar with that video. The only videos I have seen in facebook were ofws complaining about abuse from foreign employers.

It is difficult to get a trusted maid all over the world. If any one get that way, they are lucky.

Can't imagine not having a maid around. And we are just fortunately that we could normally trust the people we hire. One of my maids have been with me for about 16 years now.

Same issue encountered by many. In the case of my sister, the nanny of her child went home last december for christmas vacation and didn't go back thereafter without telling my sister about it.

What kind of maid was that to scare your nephew that much? That trauma will be in his for life! Bad maid! But am happy for the better relative maid of yours. We need more of her kind! And yes, it's difficult to find better maids these days!

Hello @KnehKnah She probably just joke around but he was far too young to understand the joke so it scared him a lot back then.

No maid...rarely even a babysitter. My children learned where it was appropriate to do their business. All five were out of diapers by the time they were 2 years old....no one was traumatized.
